Letter Three
As Bon Jovi so famously declared--
"Whoaaa we're halfway there whoa-oah livin on a prayer"
And today marks my halfway point here at the MTC!!
Also we are livin on a prayer. We pray so much our knees are literally getting callouses.
I LOVE this one! candid selfie: Elder Klasby accidentally took a picture while we were laughing about a previous picture and it's seriously one of the best shots of all time. |
This week in review...
We have an "investigator" we've been teaching (played by one of our teachers) named Gianluca. He's been doing really well, and we went to go plan the next lesson to teach him and we realized we don't know what to teach him because we don't know what his needs are right then. And one of the things we're learning here is "teach people, not lessons." So Sorella Dew and I went off into another room and prayed to know what we should teach him. And we were inspired to know some really great questions to ask him and to know what to focus on.

Conference was incredible!! My favorite talks were by Jorg Klebingat about increasing your self-confidence, Elder Oaks about living with our moral standards in today's world, and Elder Christofferson's talk about grace.
Il Distratto |
Elder Brant Nielson, who is an executive of the missionary department, gave a devotional last night and said that statiscally, the 2,000 missionaries that were sitting and watching the devotional would convert 10,000 people. That is incredible!!!
Now for some funny stuff. We've been teaching the German kids (they're not actually German, they're just going to Germany) across the hall that the word "scoreggia" is a really cool way to say "what's up" in Italian. And that "Ho bisogno di scoreggiare" is a really beautiful way to say "Hello." I'll let you Google Translate that one.
A week into the MTC we found this really hideous green gingham homemade button up shirt with a note that said the previous Italian/Romanian zone had taken turns wearing it, kind of like a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants things. But instead of really cute jeans it's this ghastly shirt. So we've been doing that, and it was my turn last Friday. There's a picture of me and the outfit I put it with on my blog, I think it actually turned out alright!
It didn't turn out too bad, eh? |
