Sending Packages to Italy. . . .
Okay, here's the deal. You can send a package to:Sorella Frandsen
Missione Italiana di Roma
Piazzo Carnaro, 20
00141 Roma, Italia
This is the mission office in Rome. You can't send it to the address in Italy where I currently am because postal workers don't usually deliver to missionary apartments.
BUT.
If the package's value is under $25 AND does not include new clothing, I won't have to pay any fees.
If the package's value is above $25 or contains clothing, once the package arrives in Italy, it is inspected and I have to pay a 22% import tax on the value of it. And they may charge other customs charges, which can be very high. They've seen charges over $100.
And it may take a few weeks to actually get to me, if I'm not in the city of Rome itself, because I'll have to wait for my mission president to be able to deliver it to where I am.
So there are some better options...
- Just put 'gift money' on my debit card. That's the safest and easiest way.
- Buy me something on Amazon.co.UK or Amazon Italia. Address the purchase to the mission home address above. It will include the price of taxes and customs. However I will still need to wait a little bit for it to be delivered to me by the mission president.
