Hi everybody! This week was super great!
Starting with last week, when I almost got pickpocketed by a 10 year old gypsy on the metro! The little guy got my purse half open before I saw him and just turned so he couldn't reach it anymore. Close one.
Well if you guys remember we had this 14 year old investigator named Antonella who set a baptismal date! Then she just kinda faded away and couldn't meet with us anymore. We finally got to see her again- and this time at her house!! We got her mom Gloria's number from her and called to see if we could come by. She was super unsure about it on the phone (What church are you from? I'm Catholic, I don't want to change), but we got her to say yes.
When we got to the apartment Antonella brought us right to the living room, passing through the kitchen where another lady was sitting at the table. In the living room Gloria had us sit down but was just very stiff as we just started teaching the Restoration to her, Antonella and 6 year old Azzurra. When we started talking about the prophets in the Bible she says, "Wait-- you guys read the Bible? Like the regular Bible?" and we're like "Yep." Then in Spanish she told Antonella "Go get your aunt, tell her it's okay, she can come, they're normal." The lady we had seen in the kitchen comes in and they say "Our brother was killed about a year ago. What do you guys have to say about that?"
We taught the Plan of Salvation and the Spirit was so so strong. It was so wonderful! Gloria and Marisa (the aunt) were hanging on every word. It was such a miracle! Antonella was so glad that her family had really liked us too!
Also this week had a lesson with Hossein, our Iranian investigator! He is studying music at a university here (he's like middle aged though) and he played his dotar, kind of like a 2 stringed Middle Eastern banjo. He was just crazy good at it, his fingers were flying and he was just shreddin! I wish I had taken a video!
Nico the Romanian (Romanian, not Roman) came to Church this Sunday! He's the one who we'd taken to Lester's baptism last Saturday. Teaching him is always amazing because he is such a gentle and thoughtful and spiritual guy. He says he already believes the Book of Mormon is true but wants more time before he decides to be baptized. He was/is very Orthodox (like the religion) so he says he just needs more time. But he came to sacrament meeting this Sunday, introduced himself to half the ward, and got himself invited to the Relief Society activity this weekend! He said he loved how nice everyone was. He's just such a great guy, we love teaching him!
Both the anziani from my district got transferred, so Sorella Clyde and I went and picked up the new ones on Thursday! We have endlessly energetic Anziano Calvagna from Bergamo, Italy, and cowboy-boot-wearing Anziano Stephens from "Spanish Fark," Utah. Super excited to get to know them this transfer!
Goodbye Anziano Jorgensen and Anziano Anderl! They both got transferred to Sicily. |
tex mex pranzo feast at the Memmot's house. I've never been more excited for jarred salsa in my life!! |
Well I hope this letter finds you all happy and loving life!
Shout out to my brother JT who just submitted his mission papers!
Love you all so much!
